The editors are also pleased to present Georisk Most Cited Paper Award 2021 to Wengang Zhang, Chongzhi Wu, Yongqin Li, Lin Wang & P. Samui for their paper “Assessment of pile drivability using random forest regression and multivariate adaptive regression splines” published in Georisk in 2021, Vol. 15, No. 1, pp. 27–40. This paper is most cited among the papers published in Georisk during 2018–2022, reflecting the intense attention readers pay to data-driven methods. The papers published in Georisk have made a profound impact on the assessment and management of risks for engineered systems and geohazards. We launched “Georisk Most Cited Paper Award” in 2017 to recognise the contributions of the authors whose papers were highly cited. This award is given annually, selected based on rolling 5-year Scopus citations, with judgement from the managing editors. Georisk received nearly 200 manuscripts in 2021. The responsibility of timely reviewing these submissions falls on the shoulder of all the editors and editorial board members (EBMs). To recognise the contributions of our EBMs, a new award “Georisk Best EBM Award” was launched in 2021. The editors are pleased to present “Georisk Best EBM Award 2021” to Prof Jia-Jyun Dong of National Central University, who handled 5 manuscripts with decisions in the past year. 期刊介绍： Georisk covers many diversified but interlinked areas of active research and practice, such as geohazards (earthquakes, landslides, avalanches, rockfalls, tsunamis, etc.), safety of engineered systems (dams, buildings, offshore structures, lifelines, etc.), environmental risk, seismic risk, reliability-based design and code calibration, geostatistics, decision analyses, structural reliability, maintenance and life cycle performance, risk and vulnerability, hazard mapping, loss assessment (economic, social, environmental, etc.), GIS databases, remote sensing, and many other related disciplines. The underlying theme is that uncertainties associated with geomaterials (soils, rocks), geologic processes, and possible subsequent treatments, are usually large and complex and these uncertainties play an indispensable role in the risk assessment and management of engineered and natural systems. Significant theoretical and practical challenges remain on quantifying these uncertainties and developing defensible risk management methodologies that are acceptable to decision makers and stakeholders. Many opportunities to leverage on the rapid advancement in Bayesian analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other data-driven methods also exist, which can greatly enhance our decision-making abilities. The basic goal of this international peer-reviewed journal is to provide a multi-disciplinary scientific forum for cross fertilization of ideas between interested parties working on various aspects of georisk to advance the state-of-the-art and the state-of-the-practice.
