Filmowe przedstawienia otyłości – od krytyki do emancypacji

The paper focuses on the ways of shaping social awareness concerning the problem of obesity through film media. The author analyses different options of interacting within two narrative trends – a feature film and a documentary. The purpose of the text is to show varied ways of showing obesity in film. The presentation included in the paper focuses on the following perspectives: obesity as a sign of disability to care about one’s own health, obesity as a tool of social stigma, obesity as a factor determining social experience. The subject of analysis are three films: Super Size Me by Morgan Spurlock, Gordos by Daniel Sanchez Arevalo and Paradise: Hope by Ulrich Seidl.
