condições físicas e naturais das mais diferentes formas de interposição das ações humanas. Isso é permitido porque o referido estudo possibilita a identificação de área que apresentam estabilidade e instabilidade ambiental, nos mais diferentes patamares, trazendo assim subsídios para diminuição e posterior prevenção de problemas de cunho social e ambiental. Nessa perspectiva, o estudo tem por objetivo analisar a fragilidade ambiental a partir da interação das características fisiográficas e bióticas das sub-bacias que compõem a porção baixa do rio Itacaiúnas até seu encontro com rio Tocantins, localizando-se no sudoeste do estado do Pará. Foram elaborados mapas temáticos com dados de uso e ocupação do solo, declividade do terreno, erosividade da chuva e erodibilidade do solo através de álgebra de mapas com os softwares ArcGIS 10.6 e eCognition® 9.2 para classificação das imagens. Se constatou que a bacia ainda apresenta um estado de conservação relevante com as duas fragilidades ambientais, potencial e emergente, com baixa e muito baixa intensidade e baixa e média, respectivamente. Apesar de ser um indicador positivo, a região, tal como a Amazônia de maneira geral, passa nos últimos anos pela elevação dos números de desmatamento e incêndios criminosos, consequência de uma política de desmonte das instituições ambientais, principalmente em nível federal, o que pode em curto prazo acelerar e alterar estes indicadores pela instabilidade ambiental caso este novo cenário se consolide e resulte na ruptura do equilíbrio dinâmico.Palavras-chave: Diagnóstico; Fragilidade Ambiental; Sub-bacia Hidrográfica. Rio Itacaiúnas Landscape Dynamics in the Study of Emerging and Potential Environmental Fragility in the Sub-Basins of the River Itacaiúnas - Municipality of Marabá (PA) A B S T R A C TThe analysis of environmental fragility has the criterion of contributing to the understanding of environmental factors, physical and natural conditions of the most different forms of interposition of human actions. This is allowed because the aforementioned study makes it possible to identify areas that present environmental stability and instability, at the most different levels, thus bringing subsidies for the reduction and subsequent prevention of social and environmental problems. In this perspective, the study aims to analyze the environmental fragility from the interaction of the physiographic and biotic characteristics of the sub-basins that make up the lower portion of the Itacaiúnas river until its meeting with the Tocantins river, located in the southwest of the state of Pará. Thematic maps were prepared with data on land use and occupation, terrain slope, rainfall erosivity and soil erodibility through map algebra with ArcGIS 10.6 and eCognition® 9.2 software for image classification. It was found that the basin still has a relevant conservation status with the two environmental weaknesses, potential and emerging, with low and very low intensity and low and medium, respectively. Despite being a positive indicator, the region, like the Amazon in general, has experienced an increase in deforestation and arson in recent years, as a result of a policy to dismantle environmental institutions, mainly at the federal level, which can in the short term, accelerate and change these indicators due to environmental instability if this new scenario consolidates and results in a disruption of the dynamic balance.Keywords: Diagnosis; Environmental Fragility; Hydrographic sub-basin.
