They bring highly specialised AI-enhanced functionalities to the automotive industry. These new technologies, such as autonomous driving, electrification and shared mobility, are supported by data and connectivity usage. We have generated a patent portfolio in the field of AI-based Autonomous Driving (AIAD), therefore analysing innovative start-ups and their patent documents. In this paper we analyse the most prominent start-ups, particularly the ones active in the AIAD domain using information from patent documents that were filed by these start-ups. The aim is to identify the domain of technological applications in the AI-based automotive industry.
