Concentraciones de vitamina D en mujeres embarazadas y su relación con diabetes gestacional
OBJECTIVE: Contrast the levels of vitamin D, in pregnant woman with and without gestational diabetes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was an prospective, case control study, were we compared vitamin D levels between two groups, 25 pregnant women with gestational diabetes and, paired by age and IMC, with 25 healthy pregnant control women, who attended to prenatal care, in the department of Gynecology and Obstetrics in the Hospital Universitario de Puebla. RESULTS: Regardless of gestational diabetes, vitamin D deficiency was in 30% patients, and vitamin D insufficiency in the 44%. The vitamin D levels between the patients with gestational diabetes (23.29 ± 9.00 ng/mL) and the healthy patients (26.76 ± 9.33 ng/ mL), didn’t show significant difference (p = 0.14). This study didn’t show association between gestational diabetes and vitamin D deficiency OR = 1.882 (IC95%: 0.518- 6.845; p = 0.333). CONCLUSIONS: Vitamin D levels didn’t relate to gestational diabetes. Pregnant women had high percentages of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency.
