Both freshwater and marine PNSB promoted the expression of several genes related to the innate immune system, including NADPH oxidase, superoxide dismutase, lysozyme, antimicrobial peptides, and lectins, and the promotive effect of marine PNSB was stronger than that of freshwater PNSB.
