This paper discusses motion parameters of submerged body with given shape near the free surface at limited water depth. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of water depth upon wave-making resistance, uplift force and hydrodynamic moment acting on the body from the side of fluid. Subject matter and methods. The paper relies on simulation procedure, as well as model test techniques and results obtained at the test tank. Numerical simulation was performed in ANSYS software package. Main results. This experimental and theoretical study yielded the parameters of water depth effect upon wave-making resistance, uplift force and hydrodynamic moment taking place when a submerged body runs near free surface. Conclusion.
