En esta comunicacion se describe, por primera vez,en Argentina, la deteccion de anticuerpos contra B. abortus en una poblacion de perros en contacto conzonas rurales. Se analizaron 67 muestras de sueros de perros, de los cuales 26,8 % fueron positivos paraB. abortus mediante la tecnica de aglutinacion con antigeno tamponado, 7,5 % se confirmaron comopositivos mediante las pruebas de aglutinacion lenta en tubos y 4,5 % resultaron positivos mediante laprueba de fluorescencia polarizada. Los perros reaccionantes a B. abortus tuvieron contacto con ganadobovino seropositivo a brucelosis o eran perros de zona urbana que convivian con perros que habianconcurrido a la zona rural. La eliminacion de bovinos seropositivos no necesariamente puede erradicar labrucelosis. Se necesitarian mas acciones de manejo para lograrlo, como evitar el contacto directo conperros e impedir la transmision entre especies.
