PRODUCTION BIOFOAM BASED ON SUGARCANE BASS AND WHEY. Biofoam is an alternative packaging for Styrofoam substitute made from starch and fiber. Biofoam was eco friendly degradable food packaging as made from easily decomposed materials. This study was aimed to make and determine the properties of biofoam produced from whey as protein and bagasse as reinforce structure . The prosedure of this research was biofoam production using tbaking process method and characterization of the biofoam product. The biofoam consisted of 5 formulas where the whey added for each formula are varied. The best formula was continued by adding a variation of PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) to produce elastic properties in biofoam. Observations of the biofoam resulted in a slightly rough surface, the varies color of vbrownish white, white and pale white as well as milk aroma. Water absorption tests gave 0.045% 0.11% of result, biodegrability test with formula II + PVA 2% and 3% which decomposed completely within 3 weeks while the formula II which was almost completely decomposed, optical photo test showed a flat surface and thickness of 0.2 0.3 mm.
