Currently, the mélange yarn industry relies solely on visual assessment and experience. This algorithm, however, proposes a solution for the mélange yarn industry. The designed algorithm presented in this paper, which is based on kernel density function and macropixel analysis, was implemented for the real-time nep detection of neppy mélange yarns and calculated an inhomogeneity of neps of around 91%.
