Special Issues on Mixed Methods Research: Expanding the Use of Mixed Methods in Disciplines
The Journal of Mixed Methods Research ( JMMR ) has published several special issues on triangulation (Mertens & Hesse-Biber, 2012), marginalized populations (Sorde-Marti & Mertens, 2014), migration (Bergman, 2018), and the COVID-19 pandemic (Fetters & Molina-Azorin, 2021b). The JMMR encourages future special issues that focus on relevant theoretical and methodological topics and advancements in the fi eld of mixed methods research, adding value and contributing to the mixed methods literature (Molina-Azorin & Fetters, 2018). In addition, JMMR has also published virtual special issues as online-only collections of previously published JMMR articles with contributions relative to a chosen theme (Fetters & Molina-Azorin, 2020): paradigms (Molina-Azorin & Fetters, 2020), integration (Guetterman et al., 2020), quality (F`abregues et al., 2021), mixed methods research in education (Shannon-Baker, 2022), designs (Poth et al., 2022), and collaborative practices in mixed methods research (Archibald, 2023)
The Journal of Mixed Methods Research serves as a premiere outlet for ground-breaking and seminal work in the field of mixed methods research. Of primary importance will be building an international and multidisciplinary community of mixed methods researchers. The journal''s scope includes exploring a global terminology and nomenclature for mixed methods research, delineating where mixed methods research may be used most effectively, creating the paradigmatic and philosophical foundations for mixed methods research, illuminating design and procedure issues, and determining the logistics of conducting mixed methods research. JMMR invites articles from a wide variety of international perspectives, including academics and practitioners from psychology, sociology, education, evaluation, health sciences, geography, communication, management, family studies, marketing, social work, and other related disciplines across the social, behavioral, and human sciences.
