The study is a literature review, adopted the integrative modality, which is consider e the broadest methodological approach regarding reviews and provide a broad understanding of the phenomenon analyzed. Eight articles indexed in the PubMed database were analyz ed. The sample consisted of adolescents to elderly, aged between 12 and 80 years. The instr uments most used to assess depression are the Hamilton Depression Scale HDS and Beck Depres sion Inventory BDI.
