This paper is an attempt to answer the question why a forester’s book met such positive reactions from the readership. This paper focuses on the symbolic and semantic traits of the tree, as well as its meaning in the cultural memory of the German people that Wohlleben relies on in his way of depicting trees. Taking into consideration the aim of the paper, the semiotic and cultural-historical methods have been implemented.
