Self-organizing morphogenetic mechanisms as processors of evolution.
Many organismic shapes and ornamentations are analogous to self-organizing patterns in the non-biological world. lt is suggested that responsible processes become first serendipitously "adopted" by developmental systems and then "lamed" by Darwinian selection as soon as a specific function has been acquired. Yet, taming can only reduce, bul not eliminare, the unpredictability of the dynamic systems at the local level.
期刊介绍:
The journal is international and publishes original manuscripts in Spanish and, preferentially, British spelling English on all aspects of broad interest in palaeontology. Particularly, the SJP aims to communicate and promote palaeontological research to the global scientific community. Moreover, articles on new discoveries and approaches are especially welcome. Finally, studies of present-day material can be included if they have significant palaeontological relevance.
