Several phenylazophenoxyacetic acid derivatives were obtained starting from azophenols and ethyl chloroacetate by an environmentally friendly approach. The synthesis reaction was carried out in heterogeneous medium using P(AAm-co-DADMAC) copolymer. Good results have been obtained thanks to phase transfer catalysis.
