Pengaruh perendaman gigi artifisial akrilik dalam ekstrak kulit manggis dan klorheksidin terhadap stabilitas warna
Introduction: Acrylic artificial teeth are based on acrylic resin, have a great importance to aesthetic function and must always be kept clean . 15% mangosteen peel extract and 0.2% chlorhexidine can be used as a denture cleaning agent. Aim This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of immersion acrylic artificial teeth in 15% mangosteen peel extract and 0.2% chlorhexidine for 1 year and 2 years on color stability. Methods: This type of research is an laboratory experimental. The samples used was an acrylic artificial tooth implanted on an acrylic denture base measuring 20x20x6 mm. The total samples used based on Federer’s formula were 30 samples for each test divided into three groups that is, 15% mangosteen peel extract, 0.2% chlorhexidine and distilled water. Color stability testing using a CS-10 colorimeter. The effect of immersion between groups was analyzed using the Kruskal Wallis test and one way ANOVA followed by the Mann Whitney and Least Significant Different (LSD) tests, and the effect of immersion time was analyzed using an independent T test. Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference in the effect of immersion on acrylic artificial teeth in each group for 1 year and 2 years on color stability (p<0.05) and the results of independent t-test showed that there was a significant effect of immersion time on acrylic artificial teeth between 1 year and 2 years in each group on color stability (p<0.05). Conclusion: The color stability of acrylic artificial teeth immersed for 1 year and 2 years in the 15% mangosteen peel extract group was better than the 0.2% chlorhexidine group.
