The Characteristics of Gerontopsychological Disorders in People Living in Nursing Homes and Households
The features and severity of anxiety-depressive disorders and cognitive dysfunction in elderly people living in different social conditions have been studied. According to the HADS scale, anxiety disorders of a high degree were established in 60% of the clients of a nursing home and 19.7% who live in their own homes. Clinical severity of depression was noted in 58.2% of cases in the nursing home and in 11.5% in their own homes. High and moderate levels of state and trait anxiety also prevailed among the clients of the nursing home. This was accompanied by an increased risk of signs of cognitive deficit and manifestations of dementia, which is confirmed by the correlation between the degree of severity of anxiety–depressive disorders and the indicators of psychological status on the MMSE scale.
