O Caminho da Indexação em Bases de Dados Internacionais
The Brazilian Journal of Dentistry (BJD) restructuring project, initiated in 2016, was carried out by the continuous effort of its managers, the academic community and partner institutions to adapt to those guided by the evaluated and indexed instances, for its maintenance as a journal of important importance and the greatest concept at the national and international levels.
Currently, we can say that the goal of internationalization of BJD is ready to be achieved, since the referrals have already been made for indexation in databases by which you can obtain the concept of "international" publication, thus marking another consolidated step towards a progressive quality of the journal.
We know that a journal must serve both researchers who submit articles for publication and its readers. The main objectives of the researchers in the publication are: a) to validate results (validation that depends on the reputation of the journal); b) to reach the target audience (in general, as international as possible), and c) to achieve recognition for the excellence of the work. Brazilian Dental Dentistry Surgeons who publish are frequently associated with graduate programs, which are pressured by the best publication profiles, with international visibility.
In view of this, the impact factor (number of citations in relation to the number of publications in the journal in the previous two years)1 is relevant to the journal's reputation and can be understood as an indicator of quality,2,3 although it does not reflect the quality of a particular work or researcher.4 Journals with a low impact factor are evaded by researchers,5 including those with the highest reputation; thus, journals with a low impact factor tend to be inertial,6 without conditions to strengthen.7
Following this thought, our trajectory is guided by the search for the best indexing of international bases that culminates in a greater increase in the flow of publication and an increase in the internationalization of the Journal.
