本研究考察了佛教在中国最初传播的版本。中外学者从文献、历史、音韵学等角度对这一事件发生的时间、路径和真伪进行了研究。作为外来宗教文化本土化的独特模式，佛教在中国最初传播的版本研究一直被忽视。本研究认为，话题的版本发展作为传播文本内容，体现了佛教中国化、本土化过程中传播策略的逐步成熟和演变。本研究的普遍意义在于，佛教传播策略的辨析为跨文化传播策略提供了借鉴和指导。
