Enhanced effect of chloroprene on the mechanical properties of polyurethane foams
In this research, a new method to increase the mechanical properties of the low-density polyurethane foams (PUFS) has been described. Chloroprene rubber (CR) is used as reinforcing the mechanical properties of the foam. Polyurethane foam (PUF) containing CR (PUF/CR) and pure PUF were characterized by mechanical testing, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results of mechanical properties show the tensile strength of PUFS containing 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 wt% CR are 38.2, 42, 56.4, 61.48, 77.3 and 77.18 kPa, respectively. Also the morphological studies show by increasing the amount of CR in the foam structure, the foam cells are smaller and more closed. Graphical Abstract
期刊介绍:
Cellular Polymers is concerned primarily with the science of foamed materials, the technology and state of the art for processing and fabricating, the engineering techniques and principles of the machines used to produce them economically, and their applications in varied and wide ranging uses where they are making an increasingly valuable contribution.
Potential problems for the industry are also covered, including fire performance of materials, CFC-replacement technology, recycling and environmental legislation. Reviews of technical and commercial advances in the manufacturing and application technologies are also included.
Cellular Polymers covers these and other related topics and also pays particular attention to the ways in which the science and technology of cellular polymers is being developed throughout the world.
