Asporin, a susceptibility gene in osteoarthritis, is expressed at higher levels in the more degenerate human intervertebral disc which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. It is present within the cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM), and is reported to have a genetic association with osteoarthritis.
