Interviews were conducted to investigate medical professionals' perceptions and concerns regarding medicinal cannabis. Three major themes were identified: beliefs about consequences, optimism, and environmental resources and context. Depending on the context of use, medical professionals described cannabis as potentially useful as an adjunct medicine and yet problematic owing to knowledge and social barriers, particularly religion.
