We greatly appreciate the committee’s critical work to summarise the literature and distill it into a cogent review and set of useful clinical practice recommendations. However, we wanted to raise attention to what we felt was a potentially confusing discussion in the Identification of Causative Organisms section (page 121). The recommended method of choice is to directly inoculate automated blood culture bottles (BACTEC) with peritoneal effluent. We strongly agree with this recommendation.
