By northern blot analysis, two transcripts with an estimated size of 4.2 and 1.2 kb, respectively, were detected in all groups. Hyperthyroidism was associated with a significant increase in the 4.2 kb transcript compared to hypothyroidism (P < 0.05), but no changes were observed in the 1.2 kb transcript.
