When the severity of sepsis was evaluated by the septic severity score (SSS), a significant correlation (P < 0.0001) was observed between the Vmax of Ca2+ pump and the patient's SSS, indicating that the inhibition of Ca2+ pump depended on the degree of the pathological development of sepsis.
