Sociological intervention in communication and interactional processes among nurses in an obstetrics unit

This paper focuses on the process of clinical medical-sociological intervention in group process. It was aimed at bringing about the understanding of processes, and the clarification of inter-role relationships and communications within the nursing service of one specific unit in a general hospital. The process of intervention is presented in terms of General Systems Theory and consists of three elements: (a) the identification of underlying behavioural factors; (b) continuous feedback by means of confrontation; (c) re-evaluation leading to corrective action.
