[Acute and transitional care : comparative analysis between five cantons].

Acute and transitional care was introduced in 2011 by an article in the Federal Health Insurance Act. This provision of the law stipulates that mandatory health insurance covers these necessary post-hospitalization care services for a period of 14 days. In the context of an aging population and hospital overload, these care services seem essential to maintain the health of the population. However, in practice, the use of acute and transitional care remains low and sometimes even absent in certain cantons. This article compares the implementation of acute and transitional care in five Swiss cantons to understand the reasons for this low utilization, as well as the differences related to cantonal leeway. It examines cantonal regulations, the use of this type of care, and the institutions offering this service.
