Sodium dichloroisocyanurate dihydrate (NaDCC·2H<small><sub>2</sub></small>O) served as an efficient oxidant for converting thiols to sulfonyl chlorides, which then reacted <em>in situ</em> with various amines to afford sulfonamides in good to excellent yields in water, EtOH, glycerol and the DES ChCl/glycerol: 1/2.
