A literature search was conducted in the Cochrane Library and PubMed databases to evaluate the effect of the lactic acid bacterium L. lactis in the prevention and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease in mice using the descriptors: L. lactis, inflammatory bowel disease, prevention, treatment, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and lactic acid bacteria. A total of 3,320 articles were found, of which only six were included in the review.
