Plasma lysozyme activity and pituitary growth hormone messenger ribonuculeic acid (mRNA) levels were higher and prolactin levels were lower in seawater than in freshwater. mRNA levels of hormone receptor and immune-related genes in gills, PBL and skin were influenced by seawater.
