Triple Negative Breast Cancer and 68Ga-Trivehexin: A Glance of Hope.
αvβ6 integrin is a heterodimeric transmembrane cell adhesive receptors that mediate cell-substratum adhesion and has been correlated to aggressiveness of various malignancies including breast cancer, with reduced progression-free survival. This integrin was found to facilitate tumor invasion, inhibit apoptosis, regulate expression of matrix metalloproteases, and activate TGF-β. Therefore, it could serve as a prognostic prob for tracking preinvasive tumor progression and monitoring the treatment variety of radiopharmaceuticals that target αvβ6-integrin, as well as its potential role as theranostic agent. Our case demonstrates the viability of 68Ga-Trivehexin PET tracer in a case of histopathologically proven triple-negative breast cancer.
