DMDHEU and related chemicals are considered safe and environmentally benign. We have therefore synthesized these compounds and studied their properties as H<sub>2</sub>S scavengers as alternatives to the \"triazine\" compounds used in the offshore industry today. Several derivatives are easily available, and we have evaluated their scavenging properties using Raman spectroscopy.
