The 2024 Award for Distinguished Senior Career Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest is bestowed to Russell B. Lemle in recognition of his sustained groundbreaking initiatives that moved firearm-related suicide prevention efforts inexorably forward. Dr. Lemle's achievements-the inaugural lethal means safety counseling training in the Department of Veterans Affairs, the first national veterans' firearm suicide conferences, the initial firearm industry stakeholder roundtables, unprecedented articles in popular gun magazines, and congressional legislation-have played a key role in fostering common ground across the firearm sociopolitical divide.
