The databases of CINAHL, PubMed, ProQuest, and Google Scholar were searched.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The search resulted in 39 studies. The identified barriers were: Academic factors, non-academic factors, challenges faced by non-native English-speaking and ethnically diverse students, socialization struggles, and faculty perceptions.
