In this study, we introduce a general strategy that enables the regiodivergent functionalization of saccharides. The use of electron-deficient photoactive 4-tetrafluoropyridinylthio (SPyf) fragment as an adaptable activating group, facilitated efficient functionalization across all saccharide sites.
