It comprised 133 genes, including 84 protein coding genes, 41 tRNA genes and eight rRNA genes. The maximum likelihood phylogenetic analysis indicated that <i>S. danxiashanensis</i> was sister to <i>S. adoxoides</i>; meanwhile, <i>Semiaquilegia</i> was closely related to both <i>Urophysa</i> and <i>Aquilegia</i> in Ranunculaceae.
