Uncertainty Intolerance Inventory Development: Validity and Reliability Study
In this study, it has been aimed to enhance an attitude scale. that would evaluate the level of intolerance to uncertainty of adults. There are 20 items in the draft form of the scale. Three items were repealed from the scale with exploratory factor analysis and expert opinion. A four-factor measurement tool was obtained that explained 72,66% of the variance of 17 items. These four dimensions, called "Controlling", "Doubt", "Anxiety" and "Fear", were obtained as a result of the literature review and result of the explanatory factor analysis on intolerance to uncertainty. This scale with four sub-dimensions was prepared in accordance with the Likert measurement tool. Comfimatory factor analiysis resultsindicated that the scale is acceptable and has good fit values. T test values of the factors were calculated and ranged from 11,67 to 17,24. Item-total analysis and correlation analysis between factors were carried out and the results of these analyzes were found to be meaningful. As a result of the reliability calculations, the Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was found to be ,93. The findings received showed that the Intolerance of Uncertainty Inventory consisting of 17 items is a valid and reliable measuring instrument.
