Exploring the Acceptability and Cost-Effectiveness of Plastic Bottle Waste Bricks in Nigeria’s Construction Sector: A Stakeholder Perspective
This study addresses a significant research gap by investigating the acceptability and cost-effectiveness of plastic bottle waste (PBW) bricks in Nigeria’s construction sector. Despite their potential environmental and economic benefits, there is limited comprehensive research on the factors influencing PBW brick adoption in Nigeria. The study aims to fill this void by exploring the acceptability and cost-effectiveness of PBW bricks in Nigeria, utilizing economic cost, environmental use, and gratifications theories for theoretical explanations. Through a cross-sectional survey design and inferential statistical methods, the study reveals a growing recognition of PBW bricks’ environmental benefits, alongside identifying cost factors and transportation costs as significant determinants of PBW brick production costs. These findings contribute valuable insights for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and researchers interested in promoting sustainable construction practices in Nigeria.
