Superfamily Perisphinctoidea (Ammonoidea) in the Bajocian–Lower Bathonian of the Kuban River Basin (Northern Caucasus, Russia)
Abstract
The data on the taxonomic composition and stratigraphic distribution of ammonites of the families Perisphinctidae and Parkinsoniidae from the Bajocian and Lower Bathonian of the Kuban-Urup interfluve are summarized. The age of Infragarantiana primitiva (Wetzel), the oldest species of Perisphinctoidea in the Northern Caucasus originating from the Lower Bajocian Humphriesianum Zone, is clarified. New information on species of the genera Leptosphinctes, Vermisphinctes, Planisphinctes (subfamily Leptosphinctinae) and Caumontisphinctes (subfamily Parkinsoniinae) is provided.
