Dr. Peckel holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. He is interested in philosophical naturalism, humanism, and atheism in early modern and modern European thought. He is especially interested in examining naturalism as a comprehensive framework of explanation and values in the works of Hobbes, Spinoza, Hume, Diderot, Darwin, Nietzsche, and Wittgenstein.</p> <p>Dr. Peckel receives $1000 US, and his paper leads this issue of <em>Hume Studies</em>. Congratulations to Dr. Peckel for his excellent contribution to Hume scholarship!</p> <p>Thank you to all the scholars who submitted papers. We received thirteen submissions for the Third Prize. Some of those papers were declined in the routine review process, and the editors judged others, based on referee comments, as not ready for the competition.
