A Study of the Effect of Glycodelin on the Level of T-Regulatory Lymphocytes and Acute Phase Proteins in Wistar Rats during the Administration of Allogenic Bone Marrow Cells
Abstract
The amniotic variant of glycodelin (GdA) has pronounced immunomodulatory properties, being involved in the formation of immune tolerance during pregnancy. The effect of GdA on the amount of T-regulatory lymphocytes (Treg) and the level of acute phase proteins (α-2-macroglobulin (α-2M), orosomucoid, C-reactive protein (CRP)) were studied during the administration of allogeneic red bone marrow (BM) cells to Wistar rats in a dynamic in vivo experiment. It was established that the administration of GdA against the background of the administration of allogeneic BM caused an increase in the portion of peripheral Tregs among CD4+ lymphocytes at the end of the experiment (on the 21st day) as compared with the group, which received BM. It was demonstrated that GdA decreased the level of CRP and α-2M, but increased the orosomucoid concentration in the serum of experimental animals at the beginning of the experiment (third day); however, normalization of the content of acute phase proteins to the level of intact animals was observed by the end of the experiment (21st day) in all groups of experimental animals. Thus, glycodelin is able to realize an immunosuppressive effect relative to the allogeneic cells through an increase in the level of Treg and orosomucoid, as well as a decrease in the concentration of CRP and α-2M.
期刊介绍:
The journal publishes papers on vast aspects of cell research, including morphology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, molecular biology, immunology. The journal accepts original experimental studies, theoretical articles suggesting novel principles and approaches, presentations of new hypotheses, reviews highlighting major developments in cell biology, discussions. The main objective of the journal is to provide a competent representation and integration of research made on cells (animal and plant cells, both in vivo and in cell culture) offering insight into the structure and functions of live cells as a whole. Characteristically, the journal publishes articles on biology of free-living and parasitic protists, which, unlike Metazoa, are eukaryotic organisms at the cellular level of organization.
