Investigating the Social Change of BOB Dylan on a Song “The Times They are a Changing”: A Case on Discourse Analysis

This research employs discourse analysis to investigate the social change depicted in Bob Dylan's song, "The Times They Are a-Changin'." Language, as a powerful tool reflecting and influencing societal shifts, is explored through the lens of discourse analysis. The study delves into the meaning construction, reproduction and resistance, identity construction, power and ideology, and media and public opinion within the lyrics, uncovering nuanced perspectives on unity, resistance, political identity, generational power shifts, and media influence. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of how song lyrics, particularly Dylan's, articulate the challenges and opportunities embedded in the ever-changing social landscape.
