Management of dentoalveolar fracture with multiple vulnus and fracture of 1/3 tooth root
Dentoalveolar fracture is a break in the hard tissue continuity of the tooth and alveolar structure, due to trauma; the injury may affect only the tooth and its supporting structures. Management of dentoalveolar fracture emergencies requires prompt and ap-propriate action and patient co-operation. This case review discusses the rapid and appropriate emergency management and closure of a fracture wound, in a 17-year-old male who presented with complaints of bleeding in the mouth, after a traffic acci-dent and falling with a face-first position on the asphalt. . The patient could not close his mouth properly because of the lower teeth that came out. Clinical examination revealed a dentoalveolar fracture. Treatment of dentoalveolar fracture was tooth ex-traction, wound irrigation, arch bar installation and wound suturing using local anaesthesia as well as antibiotic, anti-pain me-dication and antitetanus serum injection. It was concluded that trauma history information, diagnosis and treatment of dento-alveolar trauma should be done together so as to increase the success of treatment.
