Methods: the work is based mainly on the conceptual basis of the quality economics, using the methodology of a general scientific philosophical approach and methods of interdisciplinary research. The source material has become scientific research on the impact of standardization on the economy, conducted in Russia and abroad. Results: in the course of analysis of the institutional role of standardization, its regulatory framework and standards focused on improving the quality of life in the knowledge economy are considered.
