Diagnostic errors in penetrating wounds of the orbit in children

The article presents a description of two clinical cases of late diagnosis of penetrating wounds of the orbit with the introduction of wooden foreign bodies in children. Late diagnosis was associated with the inattention to the details of the anamnesis, untimely surveys or misinterpretation of their results. Longtime stay of foreign bodies in the orbit is dangerous as it may contribute to the development of severe complications both in the early and late periods after injury. The slightest suspicion of penetrating wound of the orbit is an indication for additional imaging techniques (CT, MRI) followed by a thorough revision of the wound channel.
