Die Kunst das Unmögliche zu versuchen und dabei nicht zu scheitern
Abstract The impact of digital transformation extends to libraries, including academic institutions. In addition to their traditional roles, academic libraries are increasingly embracing new areas and integrating them into their service offerings. This article utilizes the University Library at LMU Munich as a case study to illustrate these evolving roles, such as digitization and research data management, and the overarching challenges that libraries face. Within this context, it may seem impossible to fully address all the emerging academic needs. Therefore, libraries must make strategic decisions about their further development. Factors like new work methodologies, human resources, and project sustainability are pivotal in this decision-making process. This article outlines the available tools for libraries and how they can be effectively applied in the context of digital transformation.
