Novel cruciferous plant host of Fusarium temperatum, a species mainly associated with maize
Using phylogenetic analysis of three loci of Fusarium subglutinans sensu lato strains isolated from wheat and rape, the strains were re-identified as F. temperatum. This is the first report of this fungus in a cruciferous plant’s mycobiota. Analysis of F. temperatum pathogenicity to rape revealed that the pathogen reduced the germination of seeds by 15%, and decreased seedling length by 13–18%. Fusarium temperatum strains did not produce fumonisins, but produced beauvericin and moniliformin.
