The Implementation of the Latest Information Technologies in the State Archives of Poltava Region

The purpose is to analyze the State Archives of the Poltava Region activity regarding the preservation of historical and cultural heritage by digitization of archival documents of various periods. The research methodology is based on a systematic approach in realizing the integrability of scientifi c knowledge, adherence to the principles of historicism, comprehensiveness, continuity, the use of descriptive, structural methods, the method of analysis and synthesis, as well as the modeling method. Scientifi c novelty is determined by the author’s work on systematization in the fi eld of digital transmission of data of the State Archives of the Poltava Region, and recommendations have been developed for the modernization of the digitization technology of the materials of the main archival institution of the region. Prospects for further studies relate to the problem of modernization of the technology of digitization of materials in the State Archives of the Poltava Region, which is connected, fi rst of all, with the need to integrate digitized archival documents into a single electronic system of descriptions of archival fonds in order to facilitate access to materials for users. Training of highly qualifi ed modern specialists is also an important aspect. Conclusions. During the research, it was established that the State Archives of the Poltava Region is one of the leading archival institutions of Ukraine, where the process of document digitization has begun. This was facilitated by successful cooperation with the American corporation FamilySearch International records, registration of acts of civil status, lists, personal fi les, etc.). Considerable attention is paid to the digitization of the scientifi c reference apparatus of the archives for the publication of materials on the institution’s website to inform users about the fоnds and documents available in the archive.
