His publications include Mozart and Enlightenment Semiotics (University of California Press, 2011), The Fauré Song Cycles: Poetry and Music, 1861–1921 (University of California Press, 2020), and Fauré Studies (Cambridge University Press, 2021), co-edited with Carlo Caballero. He is currently editing The Cambridge Companion to French Art Song. He also sings professionally as a lyric tenor, appearing regularly in opera and concert.
