In this study, we designed and prepared two new β-cyclodextrins (1 and 2) bearing ethylene glycol chains to develop highly water-soluble cyclodextrins. They had excellent water solubility and could successfully dissolve 17-β-estradiol in water, which was considered a poorly soluble drug model. The journal publishes primarily reports of original research and preliminary communications, provided the latter represent a significant advance in the understanding of inclusion science. Critical reviews dealing with recent advances in the field are a periodic feature of the journal.
